Our Worship Style
Church music in the twenty-first century is very complex. At First Baptist Madison, our Sunday morning worship services employ a celebrative variety Of musical styles, ranging from praise and worship to music of the classical masters, and from southern gospel to traditional hymns. One of the goals of the music ministry at FBC Madison is to minister to all ages in attendance. Our congregational singing always blends traditional hymns, such as the Doxology, All Hail The Power Of Jesus' Name, and To God Be The Glory with contemporary songs, such as Jesus Messiah By Chris Tomlin, Your Great Name by Natalie Grant and Michael Neale, and O the Blood from Gateway Church. Traditional hymns are often offered in a modern, energetic arrangement, but with the same, time-honored melodies and text that many will recognize. The choir, praise band, and praise teams lead in worship during all three of the Sunday morning services. We celebrate Jesus Christ each Sunday in three, identical services at 8:30am, 9:45am, and 11:00am.
On Sunday evenings, we remain blended, but tend to sing more hymns and gospel songs with mostly piano, organ, and keyboard accompaniment. Once per month or so, we even have a hymn sing where members of the congregation call out their favorite hymn numbers. We worship on Sunday evenings at 6:00pm.
