First Baptist Church,
Madison has a great fellowship of Senior Adults. All adults 55 years of age
and older are encouraged to participate in every ministry possible. The
foundation of any ministry in the church is Bible Study. There is a place
for growth, fellowship and ministry for every senior adult on Sunday morning
either at 9:00 or 10:30 A.M. in Sunday Schools.
There is a growing group
of senior adults who have a monthly meeting on the third Monday of each
month at 5:30 P.M. in the Christian Activities Center. In addition to an
interesting and/or inspirational program there is time for Christian
fellowship and a great meal (either covered dish or prepared for a minimal
charge). Each month a newsletter (The Golden Link) is mailed to all senior
adults announcing the program and meal arrangements.
Monday afternoons are fun time! Come to Building 700 for Game Day from
1:00-4:00 p.m. Tables games and crafts are provided for your
enjoyment and exercise is available by using the walking track or machines.
Wednesday morning is a
special time around First Baptist for senior adults. From 10:00 until 11:00
A.M. our associate pastor, Bro. Mark Coon, has a special time of Bible Study
with the senior adults. Senior Adult Choir (Silver Threads) meets
immediately following the Bible study at 11:00 A.M. in the choir room.
Senior Adults can participate in either or both of these activities.
Throughout the year,
there are special activities planned, from trips to the State Fair on Senior
Adult Day to retreats and encampments. The trips are from several hours to
several days.
There are senior adults
who have special ministry needs that are being met. Our Homebound Ministry
provides a contact monthly to our Shut-ins and alerts the Senior Adult
Ministry and church to special needs. The senior adults participate in other
ministry opportunities as they are known by the church or Sunday School
