Weather Update

As we navigate this weekend’s winter weather together, we want to share an important update. Due to current conditions and out of care for the safety of our church family, we have prayerfully decided to gather for worship ONLINE ONLY  this Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

While we won’t be together in the same space, we are reminded that the Church is not confined to a building. God is still at work, and we can worship, pray, and open His Word together wherever we are.  As we’ve been studying in the life of Joseph, God is at work in every moment, not only for His glory, but also for our good.

We encourage you to gather your family and join us online through our website, Facebook, YouTube, or the church app as we worship together.
As we prepare for this weather, we also ask that you pause and pray for those who may be directly affected by the storm and for those who will be working to protect and serve our community, including leaders, first responders, utility workers, medical personnel, and road crews. May the Lord grant them safety, wisdom, and strength, and may His peace guard hearts and homes in the days ahead.

Thank you for your faithful generosity to support the mission and ministry of our church. Since we will not be in person for worship tomorrow, if you would like to give your offering this week, you may do so online at FBCMadison.org/Give.

Because of the winter storm, our church family will gather online only this Sunday. While we won’t be in the same room, we will be worshipping the same Lord, under the same Word, at the same time.  The church is not closed, and the mission is not paused.  And with a little intention, this can be a powerful opportunity for us to fulfill the mission and mandate of the church.  Here are some thoughts to help us get ready and seek the Lord in this unique opportunity:
  • Prepare your heart. Get out of your pj’s and get to the livestream early with your Bible in hand.  Take a moment to pray individually or as a family.  Pray, “Lord, meet us in Your Word today. Speak to us and shape us.”
  • Prepare your space. Turn off distractions and silence phones (unless that’s how you are livestreaming, of course).  Make sure the worship of our Redeemer has your full attention.
  • Participate in worship. Remember, we are not merely watchers, we are worshippers.  We are gathering together as God’s people to exalt His name. Stand and sing for the Lord’s glory.
  • Practice the Mission. Stormy days create unique Gospel opportunities.  Invite a neighbor over for some fellowship and worship.  And don’t forget to hit share on Facebook.  God often uses the simplest gestures and invitations to do eternal work.
  • Pray for the storms and for souls. The forecast is that many will be without power.  Our first responders will be busy.  Many will be fearful, alone, or hurting.  But, as we have been learning from our study of Joseph, God is always there and is always at work.
